Walmart has bought another retailer. This time it’s Eloquii, the plus size fashion brand that has built quite a reputation among its curvy customer base.
The news of the acquisition comes as a complete shock and was shared with Eloquii supporters on Tuesday. Plus size shoppers that follow the brand on social media were assured that nothing would change.
“We are the same ELOQUII—the same team, the same love of fashion, the same obsession with fit, fabric, and attention to detail. But now we have even more opportunity to be bolder, better and a bigger force in the fashion industry. i.e. YOUR ELOQUII…now with more opportunity to move fashion beyond a size 12.”
There’s no official word on how much Walmart paid for Eloquii but word on the street is that this business decision cost Walmart approximately 100 million.
Since its original launch in 2011 and its rebirth in 2014, Eloquii has remained a favorite among plus size women with celebrities like Chrissy Metz, Adrienne C. Moore and Danielle Brooks wearing them on several red carpets.
Currently Eloquii sells through five of its own stores, as well as online services like Dia&Co and Stitch Fix. It’s unclear if they will be offered in Walmart locations but this is definitely an interesting relationship.
The good news: They want to hear from you. Eloquii encourages their supporters and shoppers to offer feedback by emailing them at [email protected]
What are your thoughts on the newly formed business relationship? What type of impact will Walmart have on Eloquii’s style aesthetic?
