Michael Kaplan, CEO & Co-Founder of Fashion To Figure recently sat down with The Street to break down a company’s decision to enter the plus size fashion industry from a business perspective. During the discussion, Kaplan shared the reasons of why other retailers are beginning to go into plus size segment of fashion. When asked to weigh in on why other retailers are now carrying double digit sizes, Kaplan shared the following:
Our industry is definitely having a moment now, shared Kaplan. I think that it’s for a variety of reasons that our market is heating up. The first is, I think the fashion industry is waking up to the opportunity of 60 million women in America really having positive movement on the self image issue that we’ve had as a society. Clearly we’re not making enough progress, but I think we’re making strides. And there’s a whole community of women that were traditionally ignored by the fashion industry that now want access.
