Elle Magazine Is In Trouble Over Mindy Kaling’s Cover: Here’s What Our FB Fans Had To Say
Elle Magazine has found themselves in a heaping helping of trouble again after releasing their latest series of Magazine covers. To celebrate Women In TV, Elle Magazine is featuring four women on four different February covers.
So what’s the problem?
Cover girls Zooey Deschanel, Allison Williams and Amy Poehler all get to show off their bodies on the cover while The Mindy Project actress Mindy Kaling, who happens to be a little curvier than the other cover girls, got to show her beautiful face…..that’s it, just her face in black and white.
We posted the topic on our Facebook page and while our readers had mixed opinions, the following opinions really caught our attention.
Catharine: The weird part is I liked both controversial covers. Had they not been parts of sets of covers they would have been amazing. The new black and white photo is immensely more interesting than the other cover girls’ photos. However, as a set, Elle should have learned that consistency is important. If Mindy didn’t want to be styled and posed similar to the other actresses then she should have been replaced. Use the black and white as a lone cover for another issue. Use it with a theme suiting that great shot.
Adriana: I couldn’t even finish reading the article. Enough is enough. Both women like their cover. Mindy’s photo was much nicer than the other women. A Black & White photo is a classic. Melissa loved her coat & she said she wore it because she was cold. I’m sick & tired of everyone dissecting every fashion cover. The best thing every woman can do is become comfortable in her own skin & take responsibility for your fashion choices good or bad. Just because it comes in your size doesn’t mean you should wear it. Live your life & screw what the media says.
Debrora: I think the real problem is that the plus size world keeps thinking everyone is out to get them, even when they aren’t. Just stop. If Mindy and Melissa loved their covers what is the big deal? If Elle hated plus size women, it would NEVER feature these women in their covers.
Here are the other covers:
So what do you think. Are you offended by Elle Magazine’s choice to feature Mindy’s face instead of her body or is the media overreacting?
