UK Beauty Salon Charges Plus Size Women A “Special Tax” For Wax Treatments
Plus size women are being charged a “fat tax” when they visit a UK based beauty salon to get their legs waxed. Apparently, the salon uses up more materials on plus size women during the waxing process.
According to the Dailymail, clients visiting the MM Bubbles salon are being charged approximately $8 dollars extra if they’re a U.S. size 10+. If they’re over a size 14, they could be charged up to $16 dollars extra.
Once news of the special tax broke, The Sun, tested the salon by sending in a size 22-24 model to see if they would charge her and of course the model was charged more than the advertised price.
This type of treatment seems completely unconstitutional, but the salon owner justifies it by saying, “I know maybe for you it is not very nice but I use more stuff.”
