Designer Spotlight:  3 Plus Size Women Who Design Plus Size Clothing

I’ll be the first one to admit it…..I’m not your typical fashionista. I honestly didn’t know who was who, or what was what until I started writing for Venus Diva Magazine in 2008. In the past, my spare change was spent in stores like Lane Bryant and Ashley Stewart, and as much as I love my plus size retailers, there’s something unique and inviting about a plus size designer.

Although our prayers for fashion variety are continuous, we have made some great strides, thanks to several plus size designers.  Designers are pushing the fashion envelope while creating opportunities for other plus size women to model their designs.  Independent plus size designers are responsible for helping many of us view the fashion and design process differently.

We spotlight several plus size designers throughout the year, but the following designers get IT because like me, they are plus size women too.

Domino Dollhouse

There’s something funky and fresh about Domino Dollhouse. Owner, Tracy Broxterman has created quite a collection of plus size fashion. Domino Dollhouse carries everything from plus size clothing, accessories, jewelry and outerwear. Talk about variety!

Ashley Nell Tipton

The first time I went to Ashley Nell Tipton’s website, I found myself wanting to add so many items to my wish list. The thing I love and appreciate the most is her use of bright colors and bold patterns. Who says plus size women have to settle for black clothing? Not Ashley Nell Tipton.

Anna Scholz

In the plus size fashion world Anna Scholz is a FORCE!!! Anna Scholz is the designer behind her self-titled, plus size clothing line. This UK based designer has worked with everyone from Lane Bryant to Simply Be. Anna Scholz is responsible for giving plus size women luxurious and trendy designer clothing.
