With summer in full swing, swimwear has replaced diamonds as a girl’s best friend — if only for a season.
In this month’s issue of Plus Model Magazine we are introduced to Robyn Lawley’s new swimwear collection, Robyn Lawley Swim. When asked why she created the swimwear line, her reply is, “I wanted beautiful and fashion forward suits that captured my personality, but most importantly made me feel good and still has all the technical support design elements that women with curves need.”
Robyn isn’t the only plus size model lending her curves to a plus size swimwear collection. A few months ago H&M made headlines after they featured plus size model Jennie Runk in their summer swimsuit campaign. Concerned with it’s use of thin models, the fast fashion retailer hired the 5’10, size 12/14 model and it was one of the best decisions that they’ve ever made.
And how can we forget about the buzz that plus size blogger Gabi Gregg of the blog GabiFresh created when she collaborated with online retailer Swimsuitsforall.com. The collection, designed by the Gregg featured swimwear for women sizes 10 through 24.
Whether you’re wearing a fatkini, a one piece or a swim skirt, plus size women are serious about embracing their curves and having fun this summer. With the plus size models and bloggers in the designers chair, it looks like unflattering plus size swimwear is a thing of the past.
