There are a lot of women that choose to sleep with a bra. Some may like the extra level of support this gives them while they sleep, and it may even help some girls feel more comfortable depending on what sort of bra they may choose to wear. This however, is not a good technique for achieving over all breast health.
When you wear a bra to sleep you actually put a lot of tension on the skin of your breasts. Studies have shown that wearing a bra to sleep too often or even every night for that matter can cause you to grow saggier breasts at an earlier age.
The tension that these bras apply to your breast is a lot like the tension that is applied by your hand when you squeeze a water balloon. The tighter you squeeze the balloon the more pressure is built on inside. The same thing happens when you roll around in your sleep. You essentially are squeezing and applying friction to the skin of your breast when you toss and turn at night.
The skin of your breast is some of the most sensitive skin on your entire body and excess tension is not good to say the least. The only way to actually relieve this tension, is to actually remove your bra. Even sports bras and bras that do not have under wire provide this same level of tension for your breast.
The bras you wear also constrict the natural blood flow of your breasts especially during sleep. You could also be wearing bras that are to tight for you during the day and if so you should seek professional advise on what exactly the size of your breasts are.
Blood flows through your entire breast and along the line of your chest following your chest muscle down into your arm. This is right where bras will constrict this flow.
If you feel you have a hard time letting go of your bra and you really truly desire that extra bit of hugging and support across your breasts during the night time, I would suggest trying to use a small pillow between your cleavage to support them. There are also pillows specifically designed for this purpose that you can purchase.
The best method however is to simply let them be free. Allowing your breasts to remain as natural and unhindered as possible is always going to be best for their health.
