What made you decide that you wanted to pursue Plus Size modeling?
I’ve always wanted to be a model!! It’s something I knew I would always end up doing.
What was the first modeling job you landed?
My first runway job was for this awesome plus size vintage store in Brooklyn called RE/DRESS NYC. It was for their annual trunk show. My first Editorial job was for Manik Magazine last spring. That was so much fun!! We modeled accessories from Crux NY. You can barely recognize me with the geisha makeup & the colorful wig!
How do you transform yourself for a photo shoot?
I’m an actress as well, so my acting training comes in handy with modeling. Modeling is like acting but without the script. It’s about not only demonstrating the clothes but the showing the emotions provoked with the product.
When not modeling, what is your favorite hobby?
I love to dance! When I have a some free time I like to sign up for Samba or Afro Brazilian classes. I’m also into a Brazilian dance called capoeira. Unfortunately with my busy schedule, I haven’t been able to train as much as I’d like. Hopefully in the near future, I can fit it in my schedule.
What are three things people don’t know about you?
That I’m reflective, an out of the box thinker, and relentless when I want to be.
What are your thoughts on the following:
My birthday is near Halloween so I always get a birthday cake with orange & black frosting. To be honest, as a kid,I wasn’t really into it. However, as I’ve gotten older and meet more creative people, I see that it can be fun! Not sure yet what I’m going to be this year.
Plus Size Fashion?
It’s getting better and better everyday! It’s awesome! I love going to the store and finding so many things that fit!!
We all have them! Even the most in shape person on earth stresses about their body. What is important is to not let it over take you and deal with it. I have a pin that says ” see your body, not your size”. SO TRUE!! Who cares if you not a size 6? It took me a long time to really appreciated my body.
Media & Plus size women?
Slowly but surely, The media is starting to appreciate us as the goddesses that we are!! 🙂 I love it!! It’s a great time to be a plus size woman!
