Dress For Success Announces ‘Send One Suit Weekend” (S.O.S.)

Dress for Success, an international non-profit organization that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women, announces February 25-28 as S.O.S. – Send One Suit – Weekend SM.  Women nationwide are encouraged to donate one new or nearly-new interview suit to help another woman enter the workforce and take charge of her life.

Since starting in 1997, Dress for Success continues to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.  They have expanded to more than 100 cities in the U.S., Australia, Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, the UK and the West Indies. To date, Dress for Success has helped more than 500,000 women work towards self-sufficiency.
Suits can be donated at any dressbarn store during S.O.S. – Send One Suit – Weekend SM.  More than 230,000 suits and career separates have been donated by consumers at dressbarn stores during this campaign over the past seven years. The donations will be distributed to Dress for Success affiliates located throughout the United States.  On average, more than 20% of each affiliate’s annual suiting needs are met through S.O.S –Send One Suit- WeekendSM.

2010 marks dressbarn’s eighth consecutive year as a title sponsor and national drop-off site for the Send One Suit campaign.  The Style Network has also supported these efforts for the past five years as a title sponsor.

“We are proud to continue S.O.S. – Send One Suit – Weekend, which allows our affiliates to provide deserving women with clothing that is vital in their job search process,” said Joi Gordon, Chief Executive Officer of Dress for Success Worldwide.  “This campaign is also an opportunity to introduce Dress for Success to countless individuals and share our mission with them.”
