Today while watching the news, it was revealed that a 7 year old girl was dropped off at the wrong school four consecutive days. Even after the girls mother confirmed with the bus driver what school the girl was supposed to go to, the bus driver still dropped her off at the wrong school on the first day of school.
Wait a minute!!
Why is a 7 year old going to school by herself? I was nervous taking my son to school on his first day and he’s 11. I walked him and spoke to the principal. The principal quickly informed me that he was a big boy because he was in middle school now. Regardless of how old our kids are they are still our babies. True I may be a bit extreme and over protective but that’s me.
Something about a 7 year old going to school without a parent or guardian on the first day is wrong. I understand the mother did not have a car but should you really hand the responsibility of getting your 7 yr old to school on the first day in the hands of someone else. If I was the principal of that school, any elementary school age child would be required to be accompanied by an adult on the first day of school. Although the bus driver was wrong, I hold the mother responsible for dropping the ball on this.
Am I being a bit unreasonable?
